Digital Transformation is here and to stay for good !
Digital transformation was a buzz word in 2017–18–19 and many thought that it would take a decade to realize the power. Be it financial sector or a conservative sector like Healthcare, Pharmaceutical research and Clinical services, the “digitization” is ubiquitous now.
One could argue that that the Covid pandemic and lockdowns provided the acceleration and that strong push to climb over the hump.
Digital life, digital services or digital interactions are no more “disruptive” but have become essential requirements over last two years (2020)
I would say that 2020 opened the gateways to break digital divide and provided “2020 Vision” to the eyes of the world for a digital ecosystem that is efficient, effective and faster. The system will have its shortfalls specific to each sector, but would evolve quickly over the post-Covid era.
The four critical areas of improvement seem to be :
1) Easier , smoother accessibility ( 4G network, broadbands, 5G)
2) Data Security
3) Cost
4) Comfort and satisfaction of end user ( Subjects/ Patients in case of Healthcare )
I foresee a smooth progress and evolutions of the “digital transformation” in the Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Insurance domains. Digital mode may become the “default” mode for most of the services in the sector over a decade.
